Bang it Out!
The
I was recently chosen as an Artist-In-Residence for the 2024-2025 Program year at Imagine Art through AmeriCorps. (serving this non-profit organization in Austin, Texas.)
I am so excited!! You may ask...How did I get here?
.
After 30 years as a manufacturing employee, operator and 20 years in Management...I decided to hang up those gloves and get back to what my life's passion has always been...creating Art.
I applied through AmeriCorps for a position to teach art at Imagine Art, a non-profit that serves clients with physical and intellectual disabilities.
Low and behold, I passed the all the scrutinous federal application process and the FBI background checks with fingerprint analysis...and here I am!
In this position I am able to teach client artists how to develop eye-hand coordination and learn to manipulate mediums using a variety of techniques on a varied number of substrates.
I find the best way to teach is by DOING alongside the student artist.
Working with an artist 1-on-1recently, I choose a teaching technique that allowed the artist to follow my process by explaining my process while demonstrating it on my own substrate (akin to OJT- On the job training). The client learned very quickly...my process is very effective!
In conclusion, my unique experiences and education as an artist (along with other personal reasons) led me to this next stage of my life.
I am available for private lessons for Drawing or Painting, with personalized plans for adults as well as children.
I teach:
Drawing- pencil, pen and ink, colored gel pens, charcoal, pastels, graphite, and anything else we get our hands on!
Painting- Acrylics and Oils- with an emphasis on personal vision and expression. (This means I do not teach photo-realism painting because it is REALLY time-consuming!)
Please send me an email for more information and customized lesson plans (dependent on your current skill level).
I teach beginner, intermediate and advanced programs.
Be blessed and spread the love through ART!
